Hey,

I changed the battery in y 04 S4R and now she wont start. Everything seems fine in terms of clocks sweeping, fuel pump priming and starter turning things over but it's as if there's no spark and she wont fire up. I have a PCIII and it "seems" OK. By that I mean I get the leds running up and down when I switch the key on. I've checked all the wiring and the fuses and just cant spot anything wrong.

Has anyone got any suggestions as to where the problem may lay?

Also, how can I troubleshoot the electrics with a multimeter to diagnose where the problem may be?

I'm wondering if the coils on the plugs may be an issue.

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers

Well, it *could* be the coils, but not likely.
I've not heard any reliability issues with 'em.

Have you checked for spark?

Try pulling the airbox off and spraying some carb cleaner into the air horns while cranking.
Be careful!

Kill switch?

Have checked all that except for spark. How does one do that? Just pull a coil off and see if one's there when it's cranking over?

I have also checked the side stand cutout but that ain't it either.

I'm stumped  Huh?

Plz help!!

Problem solved!!!

In the age old tradition of analytical deconstruction, I took the battery out and put it back in and everything worked OK.

I hate not knowing what the problem was though  bang head

Hopefully you won't find out, but you may, later on.  Undecided
