i too use my Droid as a GPS. I store it in my tank bag, and use it just for the turn by tirn voice directions. I have run a power source into my tank bag.
I create turn by turn maps on Google then save to "My Maps". From my phone I can then find it by the name I used and load it up. I stream this through my Scala G4's bluetooth. I stream my music through the external connection on my G4 (hard wire). This is what works best for me when by myself.
If I am talking to others on a G4 then I hard wire my phone into the external port and do not use music.
I can listen to the music loaded on my phone via bluetooth connection but the first time someone talks via "VOX" on the G4 I lose the music, as for some reason it never figures out they are done talking.

OK, I've created a map on a desktop, I've saved it to "My Maps." I can get to the saved map using the installed "Map" application, but the "Map" application won't give audible turn-by-turn.  Google Maps Navigation Beta is the installed GPS program and will give me audible turn-by-turn, but I can't get to the saved map through the "layers" selection screen in the Nav program. Any suggestions?

Any assistance appreciated.

thx!

Is anyone using an Android phone as their GPS while they ride? yes. Oneal Tirade and htc evo
What's your experience?  Experience, fantastic, no cords.. turn by turn directions!
Pros? Cons?None that I can think of
Wired headset or BluTooth? Blue tooth
Did you use the included app, or did you download one?  included app
Which one? How is it working for you? sprint navigation, works fine
Can you upload route maps that you created on a desktop / Google Maps? Never tried.
Summary. Ive attachedt my htc evo to my top triple clamp using that industrial velcro (think ez pass). Then I ran a power cord for phone to battery tender cable pig tail. So my phone not only does not die.. it charges! :)

I hear the instructions well, it doesnt get in my way.. no problems.  looks pretty slick too.
