What started as fuel overflow leak

G'Day All,
Looking for some help with a 98 M600. I have owned this bike for about 6 months
Went to go for a ride last night and while warming up noticed a puddle of fuel on ground.
it appears to be coming from an outlet on the carb  bowl. i am assuming this is is an overflow. The left carb has a small calibre tube coming off bowl but there is none on the right. If this is an overflow I am assuming the tube has gone missing cannot find a part number for the tube nor connection to carb although I have only a 2000 parts manual.
As with all things ducati one thing leads to another, while climbing around underneath I found a breather hose connected to the small right box on the right hand side went nowhere so tried to track down its path and it looks like the left carb has a breather that connects to this airbox
Is this correct?
The small air box on the left has an inlet but no hose connected to it.
What should go there?
If i can work out the adding image process I will post a pic that has an aussie tap or US petcock installed. Am I correct in assuming this is a mod added by previous owner

thanks

i dont think thats a petcock. mostly because the other end of the cable would have no way of connecting to a carb inlet. maybe someone else can chime in, but id have to ask. are you shutting off that lever each time you finish riding the bike?

That tap/petcock is for the carb heating kit. It it turned on in winter to warm the carbs with engine oil.
A thicker soft hose from the bottom of the air box is a moisture drain hose.
There should be two thin fuel overflow hoses, one from each float bowl. The carb CV breather hose runs to one of the little air chamber/pod thingys, the other is for symmetry and may be removed. Some remove both and relocate the end of the hose to an area under the tank in still air.

Go to a hardware store and buy another overflow hose for the other carb, you don't want overflow onto a hot motor.

In summary:
2 overflow from the carb float bowls
1 drain hose from air box
1 breather from between carbs to air chamber
Oh and each carb has a fat breather with a little filter cannister on the end
Then there's the conviluted carb heating kit with braided oil lines.

Or you can clean it all up with a grands worth of flatslide carbs.

Thanks he-man and Koko64.
Only thing that is a concern is the lack of carb overflow tube then.
The one that is present looks like it has some sort of a black connection on the end of the tube to connect it to the carb. This is missing.
is it required to connect tube to carb and if so any idea where i could source one from or will the tube just push into the overflow port.
Heating circuit is not something that had crossed my mind, My recent ducati experience is limited to my darmah

Nice Darmah

Hose pushes over the top and has a little clamp, just check the lther float bowl too see.

Where are you Garry?

I'm pretty sure I've got a spare card overflow tube here (in Newtown, Sydney).
