You can check the belt timing without removing them.

Are they off?

how do I check to see if they are off?  See if the dots line up on the horizontal and vertical pulleys?

If you do end up needing to remove them:

Pull the plugs...turn the engine until the mark on the lower pulley lines up with the mark on the engine case. It's pretty much at the 6 o'clock position.

There will be some nubs on the inner belt covers that will line up with the marks on the belt pulleys.

The video should show the relative locations of the marks.

If you aren't sure post pics.

So I took a look at my belts.  Made some adjustments and then took it off to the the dealer to make sure I didn't make the beast with two backs anything else up.  Just not too sure of myself when it comes to the engine.

They checked it out and thought that I might have bent a piston but everything looked good.  Pressure was at 130 for the front and 125 at the back.

Should I be afraid or worried about anything when on the road?  Plan on picking it up this weekend.

Thanks again for the help!

Bent a piston?

With those compression numbers I'd ride it and be happy.

If it all goes to hell next month just deal with it then. ;D
