Suspension Question Re: Gas Cannister Pressure

On some suspension sites the gas cannister pressure is mentioned as a variable that may be adjusted.  The N gas pressure puts the damping oil under load to reduce oil cavitation. What effect does varying the gas pressure have? I'm attempting to have a better understanding of this from a suspension tuning standpoint.

Anyone had experience with this?

Cheers.

Assuming the gas pressure is high enough to prevent cavitation....

More pressure essentially provides more preload, like cranking down the ring on the spring.
Downside is that it increases the pressure on the shaft seal, so there's more stiction.

As I thought. But I've not played with that variable.

Thanks heaps SD.
