New to Monster
«

Hi all,
I am at present selling a BMW R1200RT and considering buying a monster but am in a quandary as to which model I should look at; the models I am cosidering are the S4R, S4RS or a 1100. I am a fairly spirited rider and like some power, tending to ride a bike to its limits.
Some ideas and advise would be good please, on the pros and cons opf the above models?

That's a good question to ask on this forum. Since my Monster is not on your list I'll let others chime in. Any reason for selling the Bimmer? That's a nice ride.
Or are you just looking for something different and want to try a Duc?

Out of the choice of the three I'd go with the S4RS. It has the classic looks, the most power, best brakes (monblock radial Brembos), and best suspension (Ohlins front & back).

MTS1200.
OK, really the S4r for street, if you're going to do track days, get the Rs.

one of the reasons is commercial, others not using it enough, usually short journeys, no good for town/filtering etc. something lighter would be better; power delivery not punchy enough; want to return to a motorcycle that is actually that and not heading for a car, already have one of those! naked machine would slow me down, there is a temptation to ride long distances at licence loosing speeds with a fairing!
how does the power torque of the 1100 compare to the r and rs?

Ride them all first. I believe the s4?series will offer more than enough smiles if you want torque.

S4Rs, have to tell you of all the bikes I've had, finally found the perfect combination. R1200RT (for distance) MTS1100S for fun.
I had an S4R and was going too fast all the time could not afford the tickets..

S4Rs for sure out of that bunch that you listed. You might also consider a Streetfighter.

As the owner of an S4Rs, I feel obligated to inform you that owning one will certainly not slow you down. I also think it would be questionable that you would be able to wring it out on the streets. If you want a bike you can wring out fully I'd suggest a 620. They only go 140.
