Question about my rims and which rotors to buy

Hi DMF,

I just picked up a '96 M900 (my first Duc  :D). The previous owner had put Marchesini rims on this beast, which I have questions about.

The rims are gold, 3-spoke, 6inches in the back with a 180 rear... The front matches, and looks to be 4inches. The bike desperately needs new rotors (they measure in ~3.5mm thickness). Do these rims use the stock rotor offset? I am doubting that they are, because the front rotor bolts have been chipping away at the speedometer cable (which is broken), leading me to believe that these are wider rims with smaller rotor offsets. Or is it that the bolts are suppose to be that close?

Can someone ID these rims? If it helps, these appear to be older casted Marchesinis, with a thick placard instead of a decal. I'm thinking 888 take-offs.

Thanks!

Sound like stock rims, need pics.  3 spoke marchesinis would be magnesium iirc.

96 900 would use the same 320mm rotors on pretty much every other bike exc for the 5-bolt rotors on teh SBKs

Thanks for the reply. Looking for my cam. I thought Ducati equipped Brembo rims standard on their bikes for these years? The rims say Marchesini on them. The bike was advertised as having custom wheels, and indeed the rear is wide (6.5in outside width).

Yeah, the original 3 spokers were Brembos, I am not sure but those could be magnesium.  Depends on the spoke, they could be the 888 wheels.

I need to bump this thread. I was rear-ended [thumbsdown] by a car, and now insurance is calling it a total loss. For determining the value of the bike, they're saying that the rims add $0 to the value of the bike. They're the exact same one as this one:

Here is an actual pic of the rear:

Anybody have any ideas? I cannot find any details about these wheels!

I'd like to see pics of all the spokes on the other side.

You can buy Marchesini decals on ebay. ;)
