Hy I'm new in this forum and w ducati too i just buy well like 3 weeks ago a ducati monster 900 ie this bike ride beautiful i always ride Honda's harkeys etc well the problem is this bike have injection and when the bike start if i don't hit the gas the engine dies and i have to let the bike in like 3000rpm for about 2min to  ride normally and make like a puff of air from the filters or the front of the bike (when the bike is cold ).. so this is normal in ducatis ?? thanks ....

What was the condition of the bike when you bought it? Maintenece up to date?

If yes, you should start with the cheap things like new plugs, fuel filter, air filter, etc.

The puff of air in the front when cold is weird...maybe an exhaust leak at the horizontal cylinder which closes up as the parts warm up and expand.

well i just check:
air filter ok
plugs :ok
cables :no idea looks ok for me  ;D
and the rest looks nice have to be the engine ...  ???

Well it's a little more technical than "looks ok" :P

How many miles do you have? What's your level of mechanical ability?

Just trying to feel you out...and it's best to start out knowing that you're working off of something that doesn't have any deep rooted problems.

Not too sure about the "puff" of air either so I can't help there.

As far as the cold starting goes, have you used the fast idle lever to regulate RPMs on start up? Even though its injected you'll probably still have problems cold starting without opening the fast idle a little bit.

ok lets say if i dont hit the gas when the bike is cold the engine do not run ... and make that air noise  in the front ,,,  miles on the bike have 3.500 new timing belt  cables oil battery i buy this bike from a guy who makes just customs motorcycles only,, any of yours bikes do this is like a    air  decompression   ???

when the bike "warms up", where does it idle? thinking maybe the TB's need to be synched or the TP sensor could be having issues? Also, the sound you are describing as an air noise makes me wonder if you have a fully stock or modified airbox?

+1 Sounds like my '01 M900.  [laugh] Ran fine after it warmed up...just needed the fast idle lever to be used until then. It would NEVER start without using the fast idle lever.

Sometimes it would complain to me about being started on a cold morning too...kind of sounded like the bike "coughed" at me from the airbox (which was open). I don't know any other way to describe it.
