ST clip ons fit a Monster?

Bike - 2003 Monster 1000ie Dark

I am buying a set of ST4 forks to replace my non adjustable Marzocchi forks. The set has the ST4 top and bottom triple so my question is if I keep the top triple from the ST4 on them will I be able to install the ST clip ons without any issues?

The offset on the ST triples might not be the same as the Monster lower.

ST4 and S4 have same upper triple - 341.1.028.1A
So the offset is compatible with your M1k.

Thanks for the info. I know but I figure that the ST4 clip ons will be similar in height to the Monster Bars. This will save me having to fork out money for a new triple and some tall boys. I can use that money buying a rear shock instead.

Would a ST4 shock or S4 rear Sachs be much of an upgrade over the Sachs in my dark model and are they bolt in no hassles?

If the ST bars are too low, there are spacers available that fit between the bars and the triple.

The S4 shock is an improvement, and is a direct bolt in.

Pretty sure the ST4 shock would bolt in as well, but I haven't done that.

an ST4 shock should bolt right in and have enough damping and preload adjustment for almost anything that Monster is asked to do...

Which one is better? The S4 has the piggy back reservoir ans ST remote. Any differences?

Parts catalogue shows ST4 shock as a piggyback, appearing to have a cam-style preload collar.

ST4s has Ohlins with remote reservoir and remote hydraulic preload.

Honestly, the ST4 'clip-ons' aren't all that great. 

I agree. To me, they are too far out, roll toward the front of the bike too far, and the angle is just not a good position. They remind me a lot of the handlebars on a buddy's 2001 Harley Davidson Dyna Superglide.

On my ST2, I installed Helibar adaptors with SBK clip-ons. The angle of the SBK clip-ons is a much more natural position and angle for my wrists. They also angle them more downward and inward. I have been casually watching for a good deal on some used Helibar adaptors so I can do the same conversion to my wife's ST2.

Cheers for the info guys.   I'll give the ST clip ons a try if I don't like them I can always get other clip ons.

The ST shock I am looking at is a Showa and has a remote reservoir

That shock was originally on an ST2.

Not that it matters much...

I spent some time on an ST2, and the shock was pretty good.

Thanks for all the help. I went with the ST Showa. I am about 220 lbs so hopefully I won't have to respring it.
