Glad to see someone else getting some decent miles out of their Sport 1000. I just rolled 15,000 miles today.

Rear, no.

The rear shock is 3-way adjustable. Worst case, a spring should get/keep it in your range.

Also, given recent evidence (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=56034.0) if its had regular maintenance, I'd say it's a good price.

Forks SHOULD swap right over.

Brakes might be an issue. They used a larger 2-piston setup to get clearance on the spoked rims. It's a bigger caliper than the 695, smaller than the S2R. I've HEARD of people shaving thickness off the back of the 4-piston calipers, but I've never seen it in person.

Personally, I swapped in SBK forks (bored out triples), 4-pad radial brakes, and a 999 10 spoke wheel and it all bolted together like it was made for it.

Swapping in the 999 rear wheel took a bit more doing, but it works. If I were doing it again, I'd just look for a DSS Monster rear wheel.

I've always loved the Sport classics, and would love to own one, but could it replace my Monster?...........nahhh!
I need another bike like I need another whole in my head.
I imagine owning every one I see. 
There's a (supposedly) pristine, red 749 that's for sale not far from me. I swear, if it was an "S" I probably would have bought it today.

I would love to own a SC1000, if not for how uncomfortable it is for me to ride it.

that sport is worrying (not bad just...worrying.)  the fairing isnt a sport1000 one. probably a non-s which isnt terrible but those dont have the mounts in the steering tube to bolt the subframe.

so it either has a modified frame or a dodgy U-bolt to hold the subframe (which has to be a custom build which can also go either way). the gauges are also different between the models so this one will have the large monster style ones rather than the ultra slim S model ones which will probably look rather large and clunky in that fairing. im guessing there has been some extensions in the wiring as well in order to mount it that far forward.

the price is great for that bike, but it definitely should be looked at closely by an experienced eye prior to purchase.

I wasn't aware that there were different gauges.

The ones on this S look identical to the ones on my '06.

from that angle they all look the same. the sport 1000S is about 1.5" thick and mounts to the stay at the back of the gauge where the non-s mounts to the triple the same as a monster.

it's got very tall risers on it, too. looks pretty comfy.

my buddy noticed the fairing right away. says it's Airtech.

i'm still tempted but just can't see having two bikes and my Monster is here to stay.
