Im about to start pulling apart the engine for my sbk build.

just thought I would throw a thread up here to see if anyone who has converted from FI to carbs did anything special (or in hindsight would have) when the cases were apart. any tips on sources for engine bits that the bike would benefit from would also be greatly appreciated.

the engine will be built to get as much hp without sacrificing reliability or ride ability (shooting for <90,>100. it will be a track bike).  so im thinking high comp, balanced crank, and head work to suit.  the engine is a DS 1000 from an 04 multi.

Add DP cams or other aftermarket equivalent if it is a track bike.

With porting, hi comp and intake tuning some people have reported 100+hp. A member kept stock cams for a 95hp grunty street engine. It's an absolute torque monster from the dyno charts and his ride reports, but if you are taking this to the track then some cams would be useful for more top end power if you have the cash.

Does the engine already come with fuel injection, or is it a bare motor? Choosing between split FCR41 carbs on short manifolds and injection, I would run whatever fits easiest into the frame.
