Any recommendations on Chain Break and Rivet Tool Kits? Looks like you can get Motion Pro with a case for about $80 and without the case for about $65. How does it compare to some of the others out there? Is this all I need? Also can I rivet a new chain together while the new chain is threaded on the front sprocket as I will likely have to? This breaker is fantastic compared to the fiddling little ones that come in the kits and require a wrench to turn

I don't rivet, so I can't help you there.  I do install the chain with sprockets already on the bike.  Even the rivet instructions I have talk about doing it that way.

That is all you need and can be purchased from our incredibly good sponsor California Cycleworks.  Most of us grind the head off the rivet before breaking the chain.

Yes! Grind the rivet head flat first. They are slightly domed and I bent my rivet punch first time around cause I didnt grind/file.

I usually don't care when taking an old chain off, so I take a cutting wheel on my dremel and just cut a link in half and pull the chain off from there....with that said, I then usually set the new chain with my MotionPro chain tool I have had for like 6 years....

I set the width with a pair of pliers and use a hammer and a block of steel to peen the rivet heads.

+1
i remove the old chain by cutting  master link with a grinder (zip cut disk), i have motionpro to rivet the new chain in place.
