Author Topic: Termi slip-on system vs Other options - monster 796  (Read 2340 times)

I have a 2011 monster 796 and found a new tremi slip-on with dp ecu and air filter for $1400 witch is a good price. What would be my best option?

1.  Termingnoni slip-on with a DP ecu and High flow air filter.

2.  Different brand name exhaust with a fuel management system like power commander v or a Bazzaz Z-FI with Z-AFM.

3.  Different brand name exhaust with a Rexxer ecu reflasher.

With the first option it's a install, plug and go with no hassle that I've read about. With the 2nd & 3rd option I'd have to tune it and it could take a couple of day maybe more to get it right but could save a couple of bucks. I need some advice on this situation.

None of the above exactly.

I'd do this: [insert brand of choice here] exhaust, higher flow intake (by whatever means turns you on) and a power commander v and Rexxer ecu reflash.

Or as my second choice this: [insert brand of choice here] exhaust, higher flow intake (by whatever means turns you on) and Bazzaz Z-FI and Z-AFM (or whatever its called).

My preferred options have nothing to do with price.

imho the termi kit is nice cause it includes everything, but the downside is that it you have to get everything at the same time, whereas you can piecemeal everything with other brands, which may end up costing more in the long run

Hey ungeheuer wouldn't i get the same results in the end with the termin system vs the options you offered?  Plus I dont have to leave that stuff installed on the bike like the pc-v.

You mean you wouldnt have to have the additonal hardware piggy-backed to your ECU? Correct.

I gave in ungeheuer, i bought the termi exhaust. I've read somewhere on this site that you have a full termi exhuast on your 1100. Is that what you have?

I believe he has a full Termi system. I don't think he used the race ECU. If I recall correctly he flashed his stock ECU to DP specs and removed the closed looped portion of the map with a Rexxer Unit, ditched the airbox for pod filters (wasp I think), added pc-v with autotune.

Good advice given. The most important thing (IMO) is to get some sort of fuel programmer, either the PC-V or Bazzaz.

Cool.  Termi cans look and sound much nicer than the stock items  waytogo

I've read somewhere on this site that you have a full termi exhuast on your 1100. Is that what you have?
Yup, Termi full system exhaust (only) on my 1100.  Stock ECU Rexxer-reflashed to DP full system spec but modified to delete closed loop and to slightly raise rev limit.  The rest is pretty much as DucNaked has already mentioned.

I dunno about 796.  They make/made kits for 696 and 1100.... although availability is/was akin to that of hens teeth.  Guess if you really need a definitve answer.... best to ask 'em directly.

Others report good results with more available alternatives.... MWR.... etc...

I just spoke with the folks at Wasp last week, checking on a full PUK for my 2012 796 ABS...  They do not currently have a PUK for the ABS equipped bikes since the airbox on ABS bikes is different than the non-ABS bikes, hence the bracket they provide will not work.  They said they would consider developing a kit for ABS equipped bikes as the demand develops.

Yes I just got a response from WASP.

Unfortunately we can't offer a PUK kit to suit your ABS equipped bike at this stage as the placement of the OEM ABS unit interferes with the brackets developed for the PUK. We are waiting for an ABS bike to come into the shop so we can develop a work-around.

That was from a representative from WASP.
