starter solenoid

read this http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=39629.0 and am wondering if anyone else has used an alternative solenoid for their ducati.
also anyone know if they are interchangeable between other ducs? saw one on ebay for a s2r1000. I've got a M800.

It should work.  The solenoid is a common and simple device.  

FYI: I don't think this will be an issue with the parts you mentioned, but some bikes have different connectors; however, still work once you get around that.
