Snapping Like a Squirrel

« on: June 27, 2012, 06:24:41 PM »

I just wanted to say thanks to all the CAM/BAM members who came out to the track day at Summit Point this past weekend.  I wish I was able to enjoy it more than just 2 sessions, but things happen.  I want to thank all those who helped load, move and take care of all my shit.  It was packed up great and my co-workers even drove up and unloaded everything back into my garage.

All in all I crashed because I was pushing too hard, too soon...on marginal tires to boot.   I could hear the tires chirping when I transitioned from the pavement to concrete in the caroussel and it finally bit me in the ass.  I have crashed twice this year on Dunlops....I am done with Dunlop tires....Back to Michelin.

I go see the Orthopedic clinic tomorrow, so I will see what they say about recovery time and their decision on what to do.

The Bell RS-1 Helmet took the heaviest beating as pics show below and is going back to BELL for eval, my Teknik gloves have crashed twice and are holding up well, but will be replaced.  The Gaerne boots crashed well, but the A-Stars suit had to be cut off me.  I will see if Lizzy can sew it back up so it fits me correctly with what we have.

Here is first thing in the morning:

Bell RS-1 Helmet....yes I got knocked out.

Glad you're able to post up man.  Like I said on the phone the other day, don't hesitate to let me know if there's anything you need.

Thanks for checking in. I was getting 2nd hand reports from jim - but always good to hear from the source.

Hope you heal quickly and have cute nurses

Btw - I have a couple of your straps. We trucked franks bike back and needed to borrow a couple. When you're ready just let me know how you want them brought back

Good luck on the ortho tomorrow! Don't worry about the helmet - that'll buff out!

Thanks Steve.  Looks like I may have the casts off by Aug 1.  Not sure if I can be ready for VIR with WERA, but if you race I would be happy to be your pit help.  Sept races look like a "go"

Casts for all of July - major suckage. If someone asks, just say "Well you should see the other guy!"

September - back to Summit! The scene of the crime. I forget what your impression of "The Beave" was.

Sounds like a scary crash. Was it a low or high-side? Glad you're OK.

As I understand it - low - but in a banked section so it made for a couple extra feet of fall.
