Hi guys,

Need  your help. I started my timing belts change for my 07 S4RS this afternoon. Got the gas tank, battery, and belt covers removed. I installed the crankshaft turning tool and started to turn the engine. My question is it normal that I can only turn the crankshaft turning tool only a few rotations clockwise or counter clockwise before something stop it or get in the way? I was under the impression that since the gear is on neutral, I should be able to turn the crankshaft as many rotations as I want. Thanks!

Did you remove the spark plugs? Compression in the cylinders will make turning the crankshaft rather difficult.

Found the problem. The vertical tension pulley was a little oily so I removed it for cleaning. Without the tension on the vertical belt, the intake valve pulley turned on its own and slipped a couple of teeth from the belt. When I put the tension pulley back, I didn't pay attention so was off by two teeth. This caused the intake valve to collide with the pistol as it moves up hence the reason I could not rotate the crankshaft 360 degrees.
