New 1100 Evo: does the surging decrease with break in?

I just picked up my 1100 EVO.  While the ride home on twistiish roads was fun, it did have a tendency to surge on some corners.  I wasn't keeping my eye on the tach for obvious reasons, but I suspect I was below 4000 rpm.

I've seen lots of places that surging issues are best addressed with new pipes and an ECU ref lash that goes along with it.  That may be fine for down the road, if needed, but my question for those who've had the bikes is:  does this smooth out with use (even if not totally go away)?  Or is the solution if you don't want to replace the pipes etc. to keep it over 4000?  (which may mean a lot of 1st gear riding where you can't get frisky).

Thanks.

I only have 5000 klm on mine, but i have found that 5000 to 7000 rpm  is where it needs to be to keep it happy.

Turning the dtc down to 1 or 2 makes it more fun in traffic too. Lets it spin up the rear a little, but still under control.

Magic bike for commuting. And has managed to keep up with the fast boys in the twisties too (rsv4 r6 r1)

I am enjoying it immensely

I'm going to try the G2 Throttle Tamer.  Used it on my FJR and it really improved the off-idle surging a lot.  And, a lot cheaper than the alternatives I've seen (other than adjusting how I ride, of course).
