It's definitely been hot lately, which makes my hot seat and resultant swamp-@ss more noticeable. I feel quite a bit of heat coming up in the back half of the tank and the front half of the seat.  I've been thinking about lining the underside of my seat and possibly tank with some sort of heat shield material.

Has anyone here tried it?  If so, what material did you use and was there any noticeable effect?  I understand that it's part of the nature of the beast, but I'm interested in any ideas....

try the heat tape available at any auto parts store. its a fiberglass material similar to header wrap but much thinner and with an adhesive backing. I use it on all intake ducting (aluminum) in my highly modified full custom turbo car. it refuses to loose adhesion or slide around even in the 250+ degree temps the engine bay often sees, and it reduced my intake temps by over 30 degrees on hotter days and slower type driving/racing. I've also lined portions of the undersides of hoods with the stuff to prevent paint damage on modded turbo setups after seeing what damage can be done by the heat of high hp turbo setups with non-vented hoods

Nice. Didn't even know about that stuff.  Should work well.

Thanks for the info!
