I found a very good deal on a set of K&N pods for my 2000 M600. The bike is entirely stock. I know that is I remove the stock airbox and install these filters I'll have to change the jets as well and this kinda kills the deal:)

As I have the carbs from an M900, could it work if I put these carbs with the new filters instead?

Thanks

It is possible, but you are best to use the 600 carbs and rejet them. You can buy jet kits that accommodate pod filters, however.

yeah, it would be the best option but it's a bit expensive and currently I can't afford it. I don't know whether to install the filters or wait until I get the proper jets..

I'd wait.

It won't run very well with pods and stock jetting.

While 900 carbs not only have jetting that would be way too rich, but the carbs themselves are not actually identical; they also have larger air ports. It'd cost more time and money in the long run to attempt using 900 carbs because you'd have to replace ALL jets and modify some ports, as compared to only a few things on the 600 carbs.

I'm about to jet my 750 in a couple days and will have spares of various sizes, I'll sell you the ones that would be a good starting point for a pod setup on your bike for much cheaper than a jet kit

edit: actually, I just checked the ducati microfiche, and the stock M600 jetting is the same as the stock M750 jetting. so more than likely, all you'd really need to do if you want/need to keep costs down is raise the needle 1 or two notches (adjusted via e-clips), and larger main jets which I'll have spares of in various sizes. or you can buy individual main jets yourself for fairly cheap, usually about $8 each
