Snapping Like a Squirrel

« on: September 24, 2012, 05:43:50 PM »

I just want to thank Jim (meerkat), Ben (DRKWNG), and Steve for all their help after my crash.  They packed up and loaded the truck with care and Jim, knowing how anal I am had it packed up better than I could have.  Thanks guys!!

Sunday at Summit Main Steve (tocino) and I partook in some great racing with WERA.  I fought in C-Super bike, got killed in B-Superbike, and was running mid-pack in C-Superstock when I lost the rear out of turn 9.

I came into 9 earlier than usual and I had to adjust my line, but got on the the throttle too hard too early and BAM...I was sliding.  I fell my right a$$cheek getting hot so slid onto my left side, but when I hit the dirt/grass/curbing, I went tumbling.  I had enough sense to fold my arms across my chest and kept barrel rolling till I came to a top against the tire wall.  While bouncing across the ground I asked "please when will this stop?"

Went to Belvoir Emergency room last night.  They took x-rays, but said it was too swollen to see much.  He asked if I had previous bone fragments in there and I said no.  He also commented on the rod, 2 plates and multiple screw that were already present.
-Right ankle-In a splint and I am on crutches till the swelling goes down.
-My left pinky finger is broken and they put me in a splint
-Right knee looks like a melon and I hope it is not damaged as I have had 3 surgeries already.
-Some random bruising, rash and overall soreness.  I guess I hit my head harder than I thought as I had a lump across my forehead from the helmet.  (2 Bell RS-1's destroyed in one season) The AXO leathers and their single stitching worked awesome in providing some air conditioning for my leg...crappy!!

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw that—it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

No thanks necessary. This is what friends do...help you out then give you a ton of shit while you recover. Well, sometimes we don't even wait for recovery to begin! Grin

Post up pictures of the Axo when you get a chance...maybe it will inspire folks to get some good gear.

"pitch" might be an applicable term also....

I have seen more than a few suits that "get by" with single stitching for mild duty, but when it comes to putting myself in the kind of realms of track stuff...double or triple stitching is my comfortable preference...but I guess all things considered...you made out as your gear having mostly done it's job and you are able to tell the tale..so here's to healing up fast, the guys ribbing the crap out of you....and you hopefully putting the bike back together without a need for one of those stunter crash cages for your next foray onto the track...

I think 'hurl' was bandied about too.

Here's to a speedy recovery Randy. At least the 'season' is winding down so you don't have to miss out on much.

Hope all is well Randy. You definitely win the award for good attitude after crashing. I'd be all pissed off and cranky.

HAHAHAHA

Steve....I go to the track knowing the worst can happen.  When I leave the track and nothing happens it is just kudos...this sport is far from safe and I pray I can make the best decision on the track and only hope the other nutheads out there are doing the same.  Unfortunately, I am usually the biggest nuthead.
