Has anyone re-located this thing from under the seat to under the rear plate right past the rear shock?  I know a relocator is available but only by venting the crankcase.   Pics would be helpful guys.  Thanks

FYI.   I ride in Texas in the summers and its always on my mind that it might toast my arse when it catches fire.  I would consider buying a different one if it runs cooler?  If there's such a thing.

Reportedly the  Shindengen FH012AA MOSFET units run much cooler.

I think that's the right one, but I'm pretty sure suzyj posted up on which one is commonly used.

I get lots of "scrap" sheet metal from work so I just threw something similar to that TPO kit together.  The R/R is bolted underneath the ignition coil just rear of the shock.  That being said, I've purchased from TPO before and their stuff is top notch.  Note though, you have to purchase their crank case breather kit as well to use the R/R kit.  I wanted to do it anyway, but it's food for thought.

I've seen the TPO kit but I don't want to do the crankcase mod.  Should I splurge on the Shindengen regulator?  how much cooler do they run?

Get the shindengen! I recommend getting it from: http://roadstercycle.com/

Jack is really good and fast at getting your order out. What I did was just mount it directly on the plastic mud guard. Making your own aluminum plate would be better but I was lazy. The plastic is plenty thick and hard enough.

For what it's worth, I've had the crank case kit on for a few thousand miles and have had ZERO issues with it.

That being said, remember to clean your connectors as well as possible and add a coat of dielectric grease.  Judging from the corrosion on my stator, it was on its way out anyway but this connector couldn't have helped.
