cool alternative to trailer!

yo, this seems like a really cool alternative to a trailer, for those of you that have trucks. i saw this post on ``the other forum'' by mr3436, so i'll just cut it and past it from there to here in case any of you wants in on the deal:

Ok guys I was able to negotiate with with Mototote a group buy for their MTXS Carrier.

Here's what you do:

Just as an important bit of info on these sort of carriers - be sure to check/know the tongue weight rating of your hitch. it's only about 10% of the tow capacity of a given hitch. For example we've got a Kia sorento which will two a couple bieks just fine, but I can't use one of these.

It's tongue capacity is 350 pounds. Carrier is 60 + bike (say) 400 = 460...

If you've got enough capacity, they are handy for carrying as you don't need to worry about a trailer

I have this one and have hauled the Monster and a couple old Honda CBs and it worked fine.  Only issue w/ the Monster is the rear wheel does not sit down between the rails because it's to wide but it never went anywhere.  I just used and extra ratchet strap that I put around the carrier and the tire to help keep it from moving around. 
The ramp is a little sketchy when you load/ unload as it doesn't secure to the carrier.  It has a lip on it that sits in a channel on the carrier but it easily falls out if you aren't careful.
The 2nd one you showed w/ the wheel chock looks like it would be a bit easier to use especially if loading the bike w/o help

IMO the OP seems to be making a few $ for any of these he sells.  Might be wrong but seems like he's connected to MotoTote

i (the OP) am not connected at all to the company, or any motorcycle company. i am journalist for bloomberg, but i also just love ducatis

just saw this on the ``other forum'' and thought i'd share. it looked cool (never seen these before) and i was drawn in by the ``price reduction.'' but now i see there are many cheaper alternatives. i am def getting one of them for my bike, will have to shop around and find one.

i wish pit bull made one!

I have the mototote and can attest to it's quality. I shopped/compared multiple models, scoured reviews, and really took my time before taking the plunge. The MT just feels like a much better quality than other options. Plus it looks the coolest. I practically live on the road so this was a really important purchase. I've gone several thousand miles with this setup, and although I was nervous seeing my bike "floating" behind me at first, I barely even notice it anymore. It's rated for 450 pounds and the TW of my hitch is rated for 500. The bike prob weighs around 420 at the most wet.
