S2R1000 Shock Length

Dont have teh bike with me, does anyone know what the eyelet to eyelet length is on the SSS shock?

edit: I found it online as roughly 300mm. there is a penske shock on ebay @ 325mm. thats a pretty big difference  on the ride height isnt it?

Yeah, an inch at the shock is probably 2 or so at the wheel.  The Penskes are usually adjustable though.  Any threads showing at the eyes?

You could also fab a shorter rod for the other side to drop it back down.

this specific penske is not adjustable its part of their new street line up its the 8975 double clicker.

i could get a shorter rod made but at that cost i might as well just buy  a proper shock.

there are other options like 87xx series like this one. Its adjustable up to my size and valves are pretty cheap.

For your shopping information: when I bought my Penske, Traxxion Dynamics told me Penske told them there was "an emulsion problem" without the external reservoir on an S2R.

I attempted to buy an 8975, but they wouldn't sell it to me due to the aforementioned issue.

I don't know the truth of the matter, but I do know the triple-clicker they up-sold me on is the tits.

where did you get it from? and how much did it run you?

the triple clickers ive seen retail through penske is $899 + tax.

but im wondering if picking up that yamaha one would be a good idea.

So I bought an 8987 remote reservoir in early 2011... and apparently retail on them has gone up significantly... but if you are seeing them for $899, that doesn't look too bad.  I got out for only a little bit less than that with shipping and all.  I did have a bit of a wait due to Penske reportedly being over-booked by a race event.  My searches have turned up retail in the $1200 range with a few on ebay right at $1k (with no spring).

I don't remember if you have the crankcase catchcan thing still, but I understand the piggyback reservoirs interfere with it.

How much are shimstacks and a spring?  I assume the yamaha has different rates.

shim stacks seem to be about $50 bucks on the high end. the spring can be had with anyone almost, but they run about $125 bucks.

I ditched teh crank case breather a long time ago and the bracket got cut off for the rear coil. ive go enough space to put a space shuttle shock in there.

i might of gotten the price mixed up. the double clicker is 899, and the triple is 999. of course these are without al lthe bells and whistles.

i dont think i need a triple clicker, what is that hi/lo comp and rebound?

but at $400, plus user rebuildable with the right one, and if my ohlins -31 spring fits, im good to have a triple clicker (abiet a 87series, though im not sure how much better hte 89xx are) for under $500 or half the price of new.

Given those shim prices, that yammie setup seems a good buy.  I don't know anything about the stroke length, though.

thats about the only problem i have ( thats what she said!), i need to figure out how much i need on an S2R and how much is on that shock.

Some other moto forum claims the stock R6 had 65mm of stroke, but no year was associated with it.  It seems the width of the eyelet on the R6 is 23mm (whatever they were swapping it onto had a 22mm wide eye).

I'm not seeing any info on monsters.
