Weird idle issue

A few weeks ago I removed my slip on pipes to run open headers with a lollipop baffle installed. Everything was great until yesterday. Other parts of my set up include: open lid air box with K&N filter and a stage 2 jet kit. Before I removed the slip ons she was running a bit rich as told by the carbon deposits on the pipe ends as well as a slight gas smell when taking the bike cover off. I have not yet checked the plugs bc I lack the required deep socket. But Im sure its rich.

Current symptoms: starts fine and after warm up the idle seems to go in and out of "harmony". So for the sake of sounding silly it goes: bla-bita-bla-bita-bla when its "harmonious" and goes: bla-bla-bla-bla when its not. For those that know drumming techniques, the out of harmony sounds like a flam for a few strokes, then it goes back to being in harmony. Perhaps this is what people mean when they say their idle is periodically missing.

My guess would be a carb sync.

Questions:
1) you think it sounds like a carb sync?
2) how can one screw sync both the idle and the throttle? On my exp with seperated CV carbs I had to set the idle and open throttle with two separate cable adjusters.

The carbs are synced with a screw inbetween the 2 carbs, idle is another screw.

Right. Hooked it up to my gauges and they were a bit off. I guess what I was asking in q#2 is: how can only one adjuster screw adjust the balance of both idle AND the throttle circuits? On my intruder you had to do both separately. And I could have a synkd idle but not the throttle and vice versa.
I'm sure the answer is long and technical therefore I will research the design aspects of my current carb.
I guess that's what happens in carb design over a period of thirteen years.
