So a while back my dealer pretty much forced me to have my termi kit installed or they were going to void my warranty if any problems arose. Fast forward a few months later I look through the box of original parts that came off to find they didn't install the open air box. When I asked about this I was told ducati didn't recommend it in the area I live. Does anyone know if there is any truth  to this statement?

It would help to know where you live, and the approx elevation.

JSouth

Yeah, that would be info I should have posted..
I live in central north carolina with an elevation around 500ft above sea level.

wondering why the dealer said they would void your warranty if you didn't install a termi kit????

Sorry but my post doesn't make any sense. Forget the part about the term I install. I installed it and had to uninstall it and have the dealer install it or my warranty was going to be voided.

I'm curious about the open air box. I was under the impression it was installed but wasn't. I was told Ducat I doesn't recommend using the open air box in my area. I can't seem to find anything online saying one way or the other so I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable than me can tell me if this true. I wouldn't question this if I was informed at the time of service. I was informed months later when I discovered the open air box wasn't installed. Thanks again .

sounds like "we forgot" or "we couldn't be f**ked" to me.  has it got the right ecu in it?

I spent 14 years at a dealer, and this sort of shit really annoys me.  ring dna and ask them to provide you proof in writing of why the shop would said this, name the shop, etc.  wait till you've had a really crappy day and want to get up someone.  then go nuts.  dna are fully aware that this sort of thing makes people not want to go back into their dealerships.

I need to pull the tank and check the ecu. I should have gone through my box of OEM parts as soon as the work was done. I won't make that mistake again.

For them to void your warranty they would have to prove that the installed parts(by you) led to the problem that you would want fixed under warranty. I forget the name of the specific law.   Magnuson-Moss Act

I'm sorry I don't have anything to add, but that was a great post. [clap]

sometimes, as the service manager is telling you that " ducati didn't recommend it in the area I live" their mind is saying "f**king lazy prick, that's the third time he's done that".  just because he doesn't want to say the obvious, and the first thing that comes into his mind is that.  it's never a good look chewing out employees in front of customers, but some people make you want to.  service manager as a job can suck.  it's so much nicer not being responsible for other people and what they do or don't do.

or maybe ducati genuinely don't recommend it.  maybe the mapping is not that good or works badly with the local fuel, etc, and this helps to overcome it.
