No specific reasons cited which would be interesting. But hey good news is good news.

Still think 1 fatality is 1 too many.
2006 Kawasaki ZZR 600 (Track&Commute)
2001 Monster M900 Si.e. (Current)
1998 Honda Superhawk VTR 1000 (Sold)
1993 Honda CBR 600 F2 [101,000+ miles] (Sold)
1983 Kawasaki GPZ 550 [220,000+ km] @ Philippines (Donated to degenerate cousin)

Operating (or riding in) a motor vehicle of any kind has risks - it's inherent. Only way to avoid it is to completely removed from it... even then peds get killed. It's rather hard to avoid.

Here's my hypothesis:

1. The weather. It was dang hot this summer. I think a record was tied for most consecutive days above 90.
2. Gas prices. Went up.
3. Some LEOs unfairly targeting some bikes. Lots of chatter on forums about some VA state police officers in particular.

These contribute to 17.7% less joy riding.

I was a MSF instructor...mean while several of us here took our antics to the track.  Maybe those helped the factors

Hmm, yeah... Come to think of it I didn't ride at all April-September.
