It was one of those summers where cash saved for mods ended up going towards repairs.  Combine that with me being generally cheap and wanting to perform maintenance myself led to many months of down time.  Point is, I got all my winter mods done early so hopefully when it warms back up, the old girl will be ready to roll.  What she got this year:

- Forks resprung and rebuilt by Traxxion dynamics.  I didn't want to spend the money on full adjustables AND having them sprung to my weight, so I took a chance.  So far so good even sans adjustability.
- Brembo Goldline 4 piston calipers and sintered pads.
- Bigger 320mm rotors
- Radial masters off a 999 with CRG shortie levers
- Finished up my custom headlight brackets.  Not the most impressive craftsmanship, but they're mine.
- Blasted and powdercoated a headlight from a 1979 Suzuki GS.
- Lowered gagues.  They're just bolted straight on in the pics so they look kind of funny.  Once I'm done cutting the aluminum they'll be much closer to the headlight bucket and more streamlined.
- Ducati Performance Gell saddle
- Retrofit an 1100 tail light.  I always disliked the boxed look of the old monsters and I think I managed to make this one look stock.
- (not installed yet) fully adjustable Showa rear shock from a 999
- "High performance" stator from Electrosport.  My stocker gummed up on me so I decided to go aftermarket and wasn't disappointed.
- JT front and rear sprockets and new X-Ring chain

I think that's about it.  I wrecked pretty good last spring moving at a good clip so I decided that my little 800 was plenty powerful and decided to put some money into springers and stoppers.  I'm 6'4", 210 pounds so two piston brakes and suspension set up for a 14 year old just weren't cutting it for me.  I only got a thousand or two miles this year so I"m pretty jazzed to run her into the ground this coming season.  I wish I could have taken some nice outdoor shots, but I was in the garage the better part of the day and lost track of time.  I still have a ways to go, as far as mods are concerned, but this time of year has me generally hibernating (is there really anyone who enjoys getting off of work in the dark??) and money doesn't exactly grow on trees.  My garage is a mess and I don't know how to use my roommate's fancy ass camera, but enjoy Smiley.

Oh, and don't judge me on the tidiness of my front and rear end wiring.  Just because I have the stuff installed doesn't mean it's entirely spic and span just yet..

The gunk that left me stranded 120 miles from home with a dead battery.

I'd like to get a Speedymoto triple or at least have the risers milled off, but again with the $$...  Either way, the 999 masters look much more streamlined than my old pee cup reservoirs.

Note the gap between the headlight and the gagues.  I'm hoping to angle the front of them down by about 1 inch.

Why is this photo brigher?  Your guess is as good as mine.  The ins and outs of high end cameras elude me.  You can see a teaser of the DP seat.  Once I get my Gerbings glove harness wired back in I'm going to give the new saddle a proper test.

Hard to believe that this was her just a few years ago.  They grow up so fast.

The tail end came out pretty good!

You would have probably metered on a dark portion of the garage causing the shutter speed to go down and the aperture to go up (Assuming you had it set in auto and spot metering).
I know this might be beyond you comprehension, if you are not into cameras. But at least you know the reason now!

Was that the tail light that we were both bidding on ebay?  It looks really good!  Did it bolt up pretty easy? What did you do for the wiring connector?   I'm still trying to find one and do the same.

No turn signals.  We don't legally have to have them in this state and I much prefer the streamlined look.  I thought about going integrated, but most of them are the "smoke" color and I'm kind of partial to the normal red.

As far as the key thing is concerned, I'm not a fan either.  I'm normally pretty reticent to cut random fobs off the frame (coil mounts, side cover mounts, etc) just because of the paint and finish work involved.  Eventually I'll probably do a frame up rebuild, but until then they stay.

I had a simple sheet metal bracket built for the stock tail light, but between the distance between the bolt holes and the overall angle/depth of the new model tail light, it really didn't work the the old bracket so I just built a new one.

As for the wiring connector, I just perused ebay for a week or two until someone was selling just the rear harness assembly.  Before I bought the tail light I assumed that if I couldn't find the proper wiring connector for it that I could just take the whole assembly apart and wire it myself.  Two problems:

A:  the stock assembly is a sealed unit.  Not only could I not break down the outer housing and access the main circuit board, but the pins are so recessed into that housing that I couldn't solder an extension or use my own connectors.

B:  I checked with my local dealer, and the oem rear wiring harness is $65. Nope.

All said and done, the tail light cost me $60 in parts and a few hours of my Sunday.

Yep, that's the one.  Thanks again  waytogo

I'll see about getting a pic once I've painted up the brackets.  Considering I'm still using a flux core wire welder and relatively high gauge sheet metal, I have to be very careful when I'm welding.  With a project this small (that can't be seen while on the bike Smiley) I'm generally of the mindset that I'd rather have it strong than pretty and you can barely see it when everything is bolted up.

Might I suggest two things:
1) Paint the mc reservoirs and leave a "stripe" of unpainted with some tape.
2) Risers: you can cut them down and file/sand til smooth, OR (what I did) you can bolt on the top clamp bar thingy that once held on your stock bars (might need shorter screws) and cut out a semi-circle to expose the steering stem top.

I don't enjoy making those types of bits and pieces, per se.  I'm more focused on the final outcome and what the bike is going to look like when I'm done which is what keeps me going.  Welding aside (which I just did for reinforcement) it's just sheet metal bent up with some hole drilled in it.  I'll get pictures up soon.
