I have a 2012 M796 which I am about to take in for it's first 1,000 km service.  Tonight it started showing an error code "T Air".  I checked the manual and it says that error is "Air Temperature Sensor Short Circuit GND or AC (or Volt DC).  Has anyone else had this before on a new M796 and will it take alot of time to fix?  The repair costs should be covered under warranty.  I have a 25 mile ride to the shop.  Should I be concerned about damaging anything else on the bike during the ride to the shop since it appears to be only a faulty sensor?  Appreciate any advice.

seems to be faulty sensor . . .

I once had the oil preasure sensor fail and it was replaced under wty . . . you might try to have dealer replace it under wty

If the bike runs OK ride it to the shop.

Odd error because as far as I know none of the 796's had that feature enabled.  I only got it showing after a reflash.  Should not hurt anything though.

On the 696 the sensor gives a reading to the instrument cluster as well as the ECU.  On the 796, no reading on the cluster, but the sensor is used as a computer input.

Thanks everyone.  I had my 1000 km service this morning and they replaced the air temperature sensor under warranty.  It was a just a faulty sensor which measures air temperature and sends the data to the ECU. I was impressed with the service too.  Seemed pretty comprehensive and thorough.  Bike runs great.
