Hi all,

I recently purchased a 2006 Monster 695 with only 14 600 KM on the clock.

Bike is in great condition and runs beautifully  [thumbsup]

and she fits nicely in the garage with the other toys

I have contacted the dealer that did teh previous services on the bike and i have found out that in 2008 the bike had a service when it had 8 000km on the clock. At this service the belts were replaced.
It has been for another service on 14 000 KM in 2011. Just an oil, filter, etc change - no belts
Since that service the bike has only done 600KM

My question is, do i need to change the belts now? The bike has only done 4 000KM since the change but it has been 4 years. If i do need to change, why?
I am going to use the bike almost daily for commuting along with the BM on alternate days, so i want to make sure the bike is always in top shape [Dolph]

Second question, my brake light is permanently on. Is this is fuse or globe issue.
As i do not know the bike well enough, i need to ask before i fiddle and break.  ;D

Belts should be done every 20,000 kilometers/12,000 miles or every 2 years. I would replace them if I was you for piece of mind. It is better than forking out big bucks for engine damage caused by a broken belt.

Your globe issues sound to me like one of your micro switches is being activated on either your front or rear brake lever. Did you do any adjustments on these recently?

Thanks Twizted  [thumbsup]

I will book the bike in and get the piece of mind done.
I have not touched anything on the bike except for putting on the cafe mirrors.

I will need to check the adjustments of the switches this weekend. Was hoping it would e something simple like a fuse change, i'm lazy  ;D

Also make sure the bulb (globe) is not installed backwards.

and that the wires attaching to the back of the assembly are correct.
