Weird surging idle

Started my biked yesterday, and took off driving almost immediately.  As I was navigating the parking garage, parking lot, stop signs etc. at low speed noticed that the bike was acting really funny.  Almost like i was on the throttle.
It got to the point that i pulled over and noticed that while sitting in neutral the idle was bouncing between 2k and 3k up and down.
I shut it off, turned it back on and it went away.
Just curious what might cause this - seemed strange that it would continue to surge like that under load.

Exact cause: dunno.  For whatever reason the idles speed motor and computer were having a difficult time agreeing.  It may never happen again.

From my short experience in bike with an IAC or ISC, Idle Air Control or Idle Speed Control, valve, is that somewhere along the wiring it is linked to the temp sensor and at start it will be 'more open' than when at operating temp and since you state you "ook off driving almost immediately", it might have somehow, 'stuck' the controlling screw into an open position and keeping idle high, this has happen in cars I service from time to time and have had to unplug it and plug it back again . .. but, as howie said, it may not happen ever again . .

As said, based on little experience with bikes but, more on cars

probably the case.  I *may* have revved it a bit too right at start up trying to set off my coworkers car alarm in the garage...
