Had no trouble drifting it out but putting it back in... ???

I know I'm putting it in right side up (brown film over the bearings on the inside, clear bearings facing the outside) because I took pics and videos before taking it out and after taking it out.

It's apparent that it has to go in evenly because if one side goes in just slightly more than the other it wont fit and will only go so deep. Well how do you get it to go in perfectly level? I keep trying and trying and keep having to take it out and start over. Is there a special tool required cause this is driving me nuts.
I just want to get this left side cover put back together and back on the bike!!
