New 899 model has Steel tank

The new 899 model has a steel tank and according to Ducati Europe  other new models will also have Steel tanks as they are stronger, cheaper to produce and not affected by Gasohol E10 which is being introduced in the EU !!!!!!!!!!

so why still fit crappy plastic on so many current models ?

Because they're already homologated with the EPA.

Nothing bad with plastic, but I really welcome going back to the past 
Makes me wonder though, why, in 2013, with the gozillion of composite materials, they could not find one able to be cost effective, and not swell like a pig.
