Found something that looks like a space stuck near rear brake.

Hi guys,

Can anyone identify this piece ? the other day i was getting home from a long ride under the rain and got a flat tire and also heard a weird clanking sound as the bike died on me pulling into my driveway. Yesterday I went to get the tire replaced and as they were lifting the bike I saw this piece of metal stuck where the oil gauge and rear brake pedal are.

Bike is a 2011 796, I haven't done any changes to the bike except install an Evo tail eliminator when i got the bike 2+ years ago.

Perhaps a bushing for where the tank bolt goes through the grommet?

I thought those were part of the tank bolt, but it's been a while since I looked at one.
