I ride a 2010 696.

I have been having an issue with my right hand turn signal for the last few weeks. Wondering if anyone here can enlighten me on the matter.

my 15A fuse for turn signals keeps blowing and when it does, i lose my right hand turn signal and my horn.

I replaced the fuse and had it blow again when i pushed the horn while turn signal was activated.

replaced the fuse again and stayed away from the horn, but the fuse blew again so its not just the horn activation that blows the fuse.

Has anyone else had a similar issue here?

Sounds like broken insulation on wire near steering head, shorting to frame.

Thanks,

Ill have to pull it apart and start the search. looking in at different angles I can't see anything wrong.

What's odd is that the fuse is good for a few days or miles and then gone.

I noticed that the wiring harness runs deathly close to the top of the vertical cylinder, but looks fine.

Only thing that has really changed on the bike is that the local shop put $hit oil in when they did the 7500 svc (about 3500 miles ago) and the bike is running much warmer now. I would think that a burned out wire would pop the new fuse immediately.

Solved...I think.

found a bit of bare copper on the front RH turn sig wire near the connector.

Ill have to spend some time on it to know for sure.

Thanks again SpikeC!

Not until it bumped into a piece of metal and gave those electrons an easier path to ground.

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

Yep.

If you did any kind of rear fender modification or aftermarket signals go back and check your work.

Strike 1.

The front turn sig wire was not the issue.  :'(

checked the rear as well. all is sound back there.

Time to tear it apart and get a clear view of the entire rats nest.

I did notice that the fuse popped under heavy braking. does this info bring up any ideas?

Howie

It might if you told us what year and model you have.

Scroll up, Howie. From the OP:

DOH!  Scrolled up and missed it anyway [bang]  Brake and directionals are on the same fuse.  If you modified the tail look there.
