Stator problems again ?

I used the electrosport diagnosis flow chart which led me to replace my R/R. Tested the voltage at the battery terminal which reads 12V exactly and doesn't rise when I raise the RPMS. Tested the stator as well and one wire is reading 005 ohms and one wire is reading 006 ohms. According to the chart my stator is bad as well ? I've checked ever connection and its integrity.

If it is my stator where can I get a replacement? I've called electrosports and they don't make it. I've also checked my vendors (parts unlimited, western powersports , tucker rocky) and none of them have it as well. Ricks only rewires them if you send your broken one in.

I guess the 97 had a 2 phase stator? When I was tracking down my problem this past couple of weeks I unplugged the stator from the R/R to get the ACV readings when running.

Yeah I was reading your post earlier. I replaced my R/R and Stator last year because of a similar problem. Now it's happening all over again. R/R is easy to find but stator is like looking for a unicorn.  [bang] . Wonder if speeddog has one lying in his shop I could pick up.....hmmmm

You should also check the wires where they leave the case.

You might check with eric at clubhousemotorsports.com

He might have one if Nick doesn't.

First, are you sure you are reading resistance on the correct scale?  Your readings are between the wires or to ground?  Did you teat stator output?  Voltmeter on AC high scale across the stator wires.  Look for at least 38 volts.

Rick's motorsports should be able to help you.  They might need to rewind yours.

I followed the electrosport instructions. I'm pulling the stator tomorrow to inspect it internally. I was reading another thread that extreme heat can destroy the stator.

Would a stator for 97 900 SS be the same? One on ebay now, not cheap tho.

if the stator wires have continuity to ground then it's rooted.  if not, and there is continuity to each other, it's ok.

I have a two phase stator from a 748.

Let me know if you need it.
