A minor quibble with my 2002 Monster 620 with 7K miles. When I first start it, even after sitting for a few weeks, it instantly fires and runs great. If I ride to a close gas station it has the hardest time restarting. If hot it will restart easily, it always runs great.

I have changed habits and always gassed up on the way home as a result but am curious if this is a symptom of a part failing and perhaps future problems.

I have the same issue. I've heard it's not necessarily the best, but I give it a little extra gas on the throttle similar to the cold start lever until it catches and then tone it down until it idles.

It's happened since I owned the bike, for the last 36k miles.
M620 turned M800 but then back to M620 after the M800 died at 110k, and now to Multi 1000.
