Cafeeee my S4
«

Hi All,
Always liked the sport classic look. But with prices soaring in the 10k+ nowadays, owning one seems further away then ever.
So that made me think.. could my s4 be transformed to a sport classic look and would it look right?
I know ik could buy gt1000 somewhere and transform it to a sportclassic. But i really like the sharpness and speed of my s4.
I did a lot research..and i think it would be possible.
Anyway here is a render i made how it would look
Wondering what you all think of it

The tank and tail cowl actually look good on the S4, hmmm..but the way it sits now it appears too fat. Cafe bikes are usually minimalistic. Start unbolting the unnecesarry, lose the fat and you sir have a winner.

Your motor is backwards, unless you did a Sportster tranny swap.

I dont think any watercooled bike looks good as a cafe racer, they may be more powerful but aircooled motors are just so much cleaner looking and suit the minimalist look.

I like the look of that.
But I reckon you should build it as your 'shoped' it... that would really screw with peoples minds!

does his render take into account scale? I feel like the Spot seat is way bigger than that, and I dont think the tank will fit the frame like that at all. Even if it would sit on it that way, the underside of the tank doesnt have a hell of a lot of room for the airbox/battey/ecu/fuses

Cafe bikes are slimmed down---you know, guys ripping unnecessary shit off so they can "do the ton". That bike looks bloated. But if you like it, then you like it. So don't listen to me and follow your vision.
That said, slimming your S4 as much as possible with some stylish mods would yield a good looking bike and a fun ride.

Wondering what you all think of it
To me it seems strange to put together a bike styled after a bike that was styled after yet another bike. But that doesn't mean anything if it's the look you like. And it does look better than a lot of the cafe racer projects I've seen lately.
The main thing I'd be bothered by is using a plastic tank that's known to have issues. I'm biased, I think the plastic tank era bikes are going to be sort of a "dark age" for Ducati in years to come. I wouldn't want to put time into a project that used one. One reason I sold my Hypermotard was to get rid of a bike with a plastic tank.
So basically to me it's something of a (decent looking) copy of a copy that uses a tank I don't trust...

its really not a big deal. the swelling never affected anything beyond aesthetics (at least thats been my experience at a high volume dealership). just go on ebay, spend 100-300$ for a second plastic tank and swap them back and forth.
after about 3 months the tanks go back to their original shape (thats how aprilia dealt with their acerbis tank woes), and it takes a couple years before swelling is apparent. so by the time your tank is swollen your back up will be back to normal, and vice versa. basically its like a 20$ o-ring every couple years, which is how often you should be pulling your fuel pump to swap fuel filters anyway.

Red max has a SC tank which fits a monster ... and the best think its not made of plastic.. so no deforming.
Also i got my hands on the seat.
It can begin!
