Clutch Stacks 900, 1100

The hyper clutch stack has 8 friction plates and 10 driven plates. Traditional clutch pack has 7 friction and 9 driven plates. Yet I see clutch kits and baskets listed for both as well as separate packs with our sponsors. The different baskets and hubs appear to accommodate both numbers of plates?
So you could in theory run a Nichols basket and Traditional Barnett clutch pack?
Any thoughts?

the 1100 motors use the 1098 pack, which has more frictions and mostly thin flat steels to allow this.  the original pack is 38.5 mm, the 1098 pack is 40.8 mm.  the light steel baskets i get made i have had extended a couple of mm so that they hold the 1098 pack nicely.  no reason why you can't use the 1098 pack in an early bike, and with 1 extra plate it has 14% more capacity straight up.  so you could drop springs out easily.  i had a 1098 come in once with 3 springs only, as 2 posts had been knocked off in a crash.  it would slip a little, but not all the time.

Cool. I have a 4 post Vee Two hub that could work with the big pack with heavy duty springs.
I measured an old drum/hub and it was about 1or 2 mm shorter than the one in my Hyper.
I just put Corse Dynamics softer springs in the Hyper. Makes sense  what you say.
