Had to replace stock turn signals with aftermarket LEDs. Not flashing. Realized I needed to either add a resistor or replace the flasher unit... I opted for the latter but I cannot locate it. I was told it should be under the seat. I'm not even certain what I'm look for, but I do have a socket under the seat with nothing plugged into it (see the grey cylinder in the middle of the photo).

Any ideas?
Nobody said that I did. Everyone says that I would.

Some LEDs must have +/- the correct way. Check?

There should be a relay somewhere, but I'm not sure it's under the seat  ??? On later models it's in the instrument circuit board, but you don't have that(?)

The grey connector might be an unused license plate light?

I've never used this link, so proceed at your own risk. A service manual and parts fische for your bike is listed.

If the bike is an '01 there should be two relays in front of the fuse box, one small, one large.  The large one is the flasher.  No idea what that grey wire is.  The usual problem with LEDs is a rate that is too quick.

You may also find that you'll be back feeding through the indicator light in the dash, making all four corners blink.  If so, you'll need to do this:

LED signal conversion
2000 Monster 900Sie, a few changes
1992 900 SS, currently a pile of parts.  Now running
flogged successfully  NHMS  12 customized.  Twice.   T3 too.   Now retired.
