After washing, Instrument Cluster Warning Lights & rizome side indicator issues

Hello,

I was cleaning my 1999 750 Monster and used a degreaser underneath to clean all the dirt and grime. I then washed it a lot. As a result, the instrument cluster lights such as neutral switch fuel level etc are not working at all. Only the high beam when pressed will illuminate in the cluster. The instrument cluster back light will not display in ignition or when the bike is running. The instrument cluster back-light works when the bike is in park mode. The Speedometer and mileage does work. The Rizoma side indicators are not working. Brake light is working. I looked at the fuses underneath the seat and all fuses are okay. I reset the battery as well.

Any ideas as to what could have possibly gone wrong? Am I just looking at fused bulbs or something more?

Thank you!

If it works sometimes it's most likely a connection as opposed to a fuse or bulb issue.

I'd check the large screw on connector on the back of the cluster housing for moisture first.

It comes apart fairly easily if bulb replacement is required.

Opened the instrument cluster just now,  everything looks good inside, no condensation at all and all the bulbs are okay.  The instrument cluster has consistent behavior that in ignition and when running none of the warning lights work besides high beam and the back light as well as the side indicators.  I guess I will have to take it to a technician now

All the lights on the cluster are warning/problem lamps. They wouldn't be on when the bike was running anyway. Which one do you expect to be lit?

If you're referring to the low fuel indicator, those rarely work correctly but the issue is usually the sender.

I was referring to the Neutral switch light and when the bike is On the stand I believe. The low  fuel light worked recently before the wash.  I could grab new fuses but they look ok with voltage test.  Any resistors the water could have damaged?

Not that I'm aware of.

Does your cluster work when the key is on and the engine is not running?

So following is the exact behavior:

1. Cluster's speedometer and Mileage work when running.
2. Cluster speedometer back light ONLY works when key in Park.
3. Only the high beam when on lights up in the cluster and the park light symbol when key in park.
4. Rizoma turn signals  do not work at all, cannot even hear the ticking noise when indicator is on.
5.  The aftermarket brake light does work, the indicator signal in the brake light do not work.

When I cleaned it,  I confined to the underside and made sure that de-greaser does not go in any of the wires.  Washing I know,  I went a little overboard with a pipe

Maybe try drying out the l/h handlebar switch, or the connector for that switch.

Maybe the ignition switch connector also.

It might dry out on its' own by riding too. Is it warm enough to ride where you are?

Will try the steps you mentioned. I'm in Indianapolis,  Low 60's and did ride a few times recently but very short rides..
