On the older monsters with the 20mm axle, they had 40mm mount Brembo 30/34 calipers. What is the difference between the 851/888 calipers that they continued on with the M900 (that used the same forks) and the brake calipers with the 40mm mount on the very early 748/916 ? Offset is the same I would think as would be brake discs. Or am I an idiot? (rhetorical question)

all gold ones are the same afaik.  the black ones on the 851 maybe have 4 pistons all the same size from memory.  i did kit my 89 calipers at one point, and i'm pretty sure they were all the same size.  don't all the monsters have gold ones?

the 851/888 type are type P432D.    4x32mm

the later type on the Monster are type P3034  2x30 and 2x34

There were a couple of different series of the P3034.. 5165 and 6800.  The difference is the casting and the bolt mount width, but they are functionally identical.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.
