Selling my Diavel to a local Duc Dealership. I still owe $6k on it. Do I pay the $6K using a Credit Card and get the title and sell it then pay off the card immediately or do I just let them take over the loan which I assume they just pay off immediately and have them pay me the difference. I know the later is an option but not sure if going one route or the other would work out better or cheaper for me. Anyone have any knowledge or experience with this?

I know this is a crazy question, but how do they want to handle it..?

I'd just have them pay me the difference, and take over the loan.

Usually they cut a check to the bank and would have made you sign a form so the title comes to them. You should still keep contact with the bank to make sure it's paid off before the next payment is due.

i think the right path for me is to keep the Monster & Diavel & look for a 90s era 900SS SP for $2-$3k to strip down, cafe out & mount a bubble fairing on like the Walt Seigl Leggero bikes. Thats really what I need anyways is a project bike. This way I create my own sport classic & keep the other two loves in my life.

I guess you fell out of love.... Smiley

I loved her but I was never in love with her like I'm in love with my Monster. (I would NEVER sell the Monster). Diavel was a great ride I have nothing bad to say about that bike. Super nimble for the size, amazing power band, great brakes, latest tech and very comfortable. I could definitely see myself owning one again in the future but I came across a Sport 1000S with Termis at a great price and I've always wanted that bike. Sadly I cant afford to just buy a 3rd bike when I'm still paying off the 2nd (damn family and kids wanting to go to college and such). Additionally for me there's something about the Ducati air cooled twin engines ... the sound and feel that just really makes me feel all warm and glowy in me gutty wutts. Plus she's Fookin Gorgeous!! The riding position also played a factor. I guess right now in my life I enjoy being a bit more forward and agressive than upright and relaxed. I can tell you I'm so excited to get the Sport 1K that I'm losing sleep.  I shite u not.

Ya, I really love that aircooled motor as well. So visceral, butt smooth when just cruising along.

Is private sale an option? You'll almost certainly get more than the dealer will give you.

If something happens and the dealer doesn't pay off your loan, you get hosed. Dealership (auto) here just did that to a bunch of folks. They're on the hook for the payments and don't even have possession of the vehicle(s).

Not very likely, but stuff happens...
