S2R1000 to Scrambler Instrument Cluster and Light Swap

Hey all,

I've got an S2R1000 with a dysfunctional speedometer, and I was thinking... Instead of spending the time and money on attempting to resolve it, why not just replace it with the smaller and better looking cluster from the new Scrambler? And while I'm at it, I'd like to swap the headlight to the urban enduro scrambler one. Any thoughts on how doable that is?

The headlight should be pretty straight forward.

You are pioneering new ground, I think, with the gauge cluster. Different ECU's, different electrics... Not impossible, but I think not plug and play. Do you still have the immobilizer?

If ECU has not been reflashed to delete IMMO, that would be the first step, then the connections behind said cluster should be matched with the OEM wiring . . .

As Dirty Duc said, not impossible but new ground you will be breaking . . . [thumbsup]

edit:
Having a wiring diagram of both bikes would help

Not impossible....but nothing is impossible with enough time and money.  ;) A motogadget gauge would be an easier solution, IMO. Also both gauges would have to be looking for the same types of signals coming from the harness, sensors and speedometer signals etc for it to work.

Well, I'm much more mechanically inclined than electrically, so I'll just see about the headlight for now! I do really like the scrambler cluster, but another potential issue would be going from an analog dial to a digital gauge. I'm not sure how that works. If it's just a signal that gets converted, it should be easy enough, but that's just how much of a newbie I am with electronics.

You are correct that it is just converting the signal. But the scambler has smaller tires so the calc it does to convert the signal into MPH would be off between the gauges.

Rear tire on scr is 180/55-17 . . . S2R is same sized, or, do I need to drink?

Different front for Scr, 18"

Heres a whole instrument cluster on flea bay. Says its from a 696 but that obviously wrong - prob from a 695. Speedo itself should be plug and play.
