I'm basically looking for the cheapest way to get my ecu reflashed so I can safely open my airbox. Is it as simple as just a relash or.....? I'm looking for a ball park price range so I can start saving my pennies. Thanks for the help.

If it's a bike with an X-box... hmm...

Lots of back pressure and sub-optimal exhaust flow, so open air box could work differently than what it does on bikes with more efficient exhaust flow.

I'm not sure you'll gain anything without a custom Dyno bench session including Power Commander or similar - worst case not even then.

So maybe not even worth the time? I love that intake noise, I wouldn't be opposed to a TPO Beast R kit either...

Sponsor Motowheels had a sale on reflashes, not sure if it's still going. I would enquire if they had a reflash map for the mod you are planning. Might be worth a look if you're Stateside.

With a Powercommander or Bazzaz (look them up), there are a range of maps available on their sites and some may be for your model and modifications. Check them out for a baseline and tune from there if you can find a skilled dyno operator. Sometimes the maps available are close enough and sometimes they are pretty rough.

Try the search function here. You could strike gold. Someone may have found the solution and may have recommendations. Also for interest, check out bikeboy.org for his dyno testing reports on the S2R 800. It may give you some ideas.

If you get the PCIII usb for your S2R800, you can pm brimo as he has a dyno derived map for open airbox, cored cans.
Found it via search function.

Bobby at Houston Superbikes will reflash your ECU for $250. Plus you pay freight both ways.
Call him and he can tell you if he has a Ducati Performance map for you bike.
I would avoid the PC and other add-on fixes. You're just adding another layer of complexity and won't be gaining any power.
Or you can Google Ducati Map Repository and see if there's a map for your bike.
If so, then go to GuzziDiag http://www.von-der-salierburg.de/download/GuzziDiag/ and download the IAWDiag version. With it and the Reader / Writer you can backup your map and reflash a new one.
Go to Lonelec and buy this cable: http://www.lonelec.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=14&products_id=50
Be sure and download and install the drivers BEFORE you connect the bike to your computer.
Don't mess with the cheap Made In China crap on Ebay, most don't work.
