Hey friends, I have a 2002 M750. This is my first experience with Fuel Injection, so please excuse my ignorance!

I went to start my bike and it wouldn't go. It cranked like it should, the fuel pump buzzed, everything seemed normal, but it wouldn't fire. I ended up trailering it home and it started up on my driveway! I hadn't changed or even touched anything.

It did the same thing a few days later (it's my commuter, so it wasn't just sitting). I pulled the plugs and neither were getting any spark. It was getting fuel though, the plugs were wet when pulled.

I've checked all the grounds and connections I can find, everything seems to be in order. I've been reading 4ohms in the coils themselves and am assuming this is normal.

The bike has, for awhile, stuttered while driving. The spark would seem to skip a cycle every so often, making my rides somewhat choppy and not very fun.

What else is there to check? And how? Once again, please forgive my ignorance.

Might be your ignition pick up (the black sensor mounted on your timing case cover).  Diagnosis won't be easy since the problem is intermittent and, at around $130, IMO, too expensive to change on a guess.  What you will need to do is carry a meter that reads AC with you.  The sensor should put out an AC signal when you crank.  The number is not important.  Check the air gap also and adjust by shim if needed.  You will need a non magnetic gauge.  There is a bolt that runs perpendicular to it.  This gives you access to measure gap.

Well I did three things, I have no idea which one brought the spark back.

First, I took out the timing sensor, looked at it, then put it back in.

Second, I took out the bolt on the timing case, learned that my gap gauge wouldn't fit, so I put the bolt back on.

Third, I pushed in both primary gauge buttons on the speedometer/tach, then turned the key. "USA" flashed three times, then "OFF". I pushed the ignition and nothing happened. So I did the same thing again and voila, started right up.

Wtf did i just do??
