So with the warmer weather this morning and a forecast of rain later we took the opportunity to head out for a ride.
Actually not as many bikes out as we anticipated ... but there were a few
... a couple of older blokes were seen having a chat to aforementioned establishment officials - no doubt they were interested in the 1098R and Pani S - I am sure nothing untoward had been going on.
Anyway they seem to have stopped roadworks on the Old Road for the moment (they hadn't finished last week when we cruised the Old Road in the mighty FIAT. Some of the works are a bit bizarre ... more guard rails (double height), some shoulder work (that seems smoother than the road surface) and some work in a couple of corners.
The smooth shoulders are already full of debris, there is still some road grit scattered on the roadway although (mostly) not on the riding line) and we finally got to test the first corner after Mooney Mooney Creek which has been resurfaced. This section has been damp whenever we have passed through recently ... but not today (and most of the 'green stuff' was off the road too). The problem is (heading north) as the radius decreases the smooth new bitumen ends and you hit the coarse stuff again ... not exactly ideal.
Anyway ... if anybody is venturing out take care - there is still a couple of abandoned cars on the side of the road that have been there for a long time.
