Well, I've spent the required hour searching for information and not finding it, so I need to ask about the check engine light.
It came on briefly during a ride last week, then yesterday it came on and stayed on, going off briefly a couple of times as I rode five miles home.
No other symptoms, didn't hesitate or run differently.  Temp was at 182º (i have an oil cooler) I'm running K&N pod filters, slip-ons, and a Fat Duc O2 sensor manipulator.  I was low on fuel at the time, and as I rode home the low fuel light came on and the left LCD started counting the miles, while the right LCD started flashing FUEL alternately with the temperature.  I think that's all normal.  Haven't refilled the tank yet or ridden the bike since.  Never had the CEL come on in the year and a half that I've owned the bike - mileage is at 11,840.

CELs are entertaining and exciting  [beer]

If it stays on and/or bother you, have the codes read at your dealer. My impression is that there's more often nothing wrong.

The nearest dealer is a hundred miles from me, but there is a good independent Ducati shop nearby that will be doing service for me soon and I'll ask him about it.  Meanwhile, there's nothing in this online use and maintenance manual - https://www.manualslib.com/manual/617310/Ducati-Monster-695.html  Is there a better source, or maybe a sticky here that would explain codes?

The battery load tested good recently when I upgraded the battery/starter cables - it shows 12.5v and charging is 14v (mosfet reg/rect).  Is it pointless to speculate without first checking for failure codes?

I have the same issue with the yellow engine light coming on from time to time.  I also have a M695.

In my case, the engine light comes on after I start the bike cold or warm and then the light goes off after riding for a bit.  The light rarely comes on after a cold start but typically occurs after a warm start.

When the dealer took a look at my bike they couldn't find any issues but said the yellow light doesn't come on if the healtech gipro gear indicator that i installed was disconnected.  I never had the issue before the gear indicator was installed and the engine light stuff didn't happen until like a year after the gear indicator was installed.   I tried riding with ourtthe indicator hooked up and the light didn't come on but I didn't do this for an extended amount of time as I like having the indicator.  so i can't say it is 100% related to the gear indicator.

Put some gas in and went for a ten mile ride, CEL going on and off.  Hotter weather today, temp gauge getting up to 204º in town, and I notice it's idling 300 rpm faster than usual - about 1700 rpm.  Is that normal on a hot (88º) day?  Otherwise running fine.

Spent another half hour that I could have been riding, searching for info on CEL/failure codes.  Can someone please direct me to the procedure for checking codes on a 695, if such a thing exists?  My dash has two rubber buttons...

Thanks again

Howie

Temp is fine, high idle not so fine.  Get someone to read the code, your bike is trying to talk to you.

So it's not possible for me to read codes - dash won't display any information?
