Went out for a ride today and one of my carbs was leaking like a sieve. Been sitting about 1 1/2 months, with the carbs mostly drained. Seafoamed gas. So much for the preservative properties of sea foam.

So I'm assuming sticking float bowls/needles???  Anyone with experience have any insight to offer?

I don't have any experience with the carbs or bike you're working but I can say in the future don't use seafoam, it is unquestionably a waste of time and money, if you're gonna use a fuel additive rxp gas kicker is the only thing that works, I use it in all of my fuels and it's amazing.

Leaking or flooding with over flow out the drain hose?
Leaks need a gasket kit. Carb flooding is dealt with a number of ways. Search carb flooding as there is alot about this. If the basic methods dont stop flooding then a rebuild kit with new float needles and a good clean are needed. Before getting to that check the easier solns via search function.

Take it out on the open road and ride it like you stole it. If it keeps leaking after that, then worry about it.

The Italian tune up mentioned above is an option.
Do the search, there is heaps of info.

I thought about it but after my F650 burnt to the ground, I a little Leary of riding a bike with gasoline dripping onto the spark plug and exhaust header.

As best I could see, it looked like it was leaking out the accelerator pump plunger. I'll know more when I actually get the tank and pods off.

Edit:  Just checked a few of your posts. Tried rapping with the tail end of a screwdriver and cycling the petcock a few time yesterday to no avail. If the weather is nicer tomorrow I'll pull the tank and pods seriously drain and fill the float bowls a few times.  And try draining them as you suggested. If that doesn't work I'll dig in.

Is there anyplace better than Sudco to get rebuild kits?  Does Chris carry them?

Worth asking Chris.
Or try Powerbarn.
Might have a torn pump diaphragm.

I may call him tomorrow if I can't get it sorted.

Chris stocks all the individual parts for the FCR's.  You can just buy what you need instead of going the whole kit route.

My FCR's piss gas at least once a season, usually the left one.  Had to rebuild them along the side of the road in the Gaspe last season.  All the key stuff is accessible once you pull the bowls.  Everything that touches fuel (jets, passages, o-rings) gets caked with some white, sugary stuff.

Reading thru some of Koko64's posts (think it was him), this white stuff could be the additives and ethanol in the fuel.  Modern fuels are meant for high pressure FI, not low pressure (4psi) FCR's.

I haven't seen the white sugary stuff since they removed the MBTE from fuel. Now I see a slimy mess of water and fuel not quite mixed together.

If it's just a torn accel pump diaphragm then you could probably change it without pulling the carbs. Careful not to lose the spring and o ring when the pump boss is removed.

Thx. Didn't get to it today, maybe tomorrow.
