Last time I took the bike out it had no power.  Starts OK, running on both cylinders.
Ignition advance is working.
Carb slides are opening all the way with throttle, static condition.
Good spark at both cylinders.
Wheels turn free.
Silencers are clear,  have not checked the X where pipes join.
Need help, its a great day to ride.

What did you do last before it started running poorly?

Tightened the chain and turned the mixture screws 1/2 turn out.  Mixture screws are back to 2 turns out as previous.  Adjusted chain while on rear stand, just checked with wheel on ground.  Chain is still looser than called spec's require.

You did some jetting recently also...no? Did it run fine after?

When you say no power, does it feel doggy throughout the rpm and throttle range, or does it hit a spot and lose power?

Bike has been running great, just a little cold blooded.  Seems like the throttle is not opening all the way.  I checked the slides with the airbox top off with filter removed.  I was not riding, just reving it up on the rear stand with the bike in neutral, slides opened all the way.

I guess what I'm asking is does it hit a wall, or just has no oomph at all?

You said the spark was good, the plugs also look reasonably clean?

Plugs have some black soot, think that's from starting up several times with out riding.  Installed new plugs for next trial.
Motor starts well and runs good, no missing, backfiring just seems flat.  It won't unload the forks during acceleration.  Its like it has a governor.

Check the plugs when you get back. If they're still sooty it could be a few things.

Changed plugs.  Rode a few miles yesterday.  Ran great.  Read plugs just now, porcelans are white.  Vertical cyl plug, some soot on one side. Probably need to take a longer ride to get a proper reading.
Looks like I'm OK or now.
Thanks Nate!

To do a "proper" plug chop, you need some road-space uncontested by other motorists.

Top gear might not be necessary...
