I've been wanting to buy a kit, but in shopping, only seem to find silver.  Since my bike is all black including the frame, I don't want a shiny piece of all aluminum showing.  I know the plate hides some, but not all and particularly not the sides where the signals install.  Yucky!  I want black.

Dude, I have the Cookie 1 tail chop kit that I got from Cookie himself forand for an extra 15 bucks you can get it  powder coated black.  I believe you can get them at monsterparts.   Make sure you specifiy whether you want to use the stock signals or aftermarket because the brackets are different.

It looks awesome in black and is much cleaner than a lot of other chops.

Order one and chop that biatch.  You won't regret it.

Okay, while I'm at it, I think it was NAKID who posted it but I can't find it anywhere, but I saw a couple of bikes that had the plate mounted way up under the wheel for a really nice clean look.  Definitely no rooster tail protection from that but very cool looking.  How hard it is to modify either one for that type of mod?  I can't find the thread on either board that shows how they did that either, although I'm sure I've seen it before.  Lastly, I think the CW kit comes with the license plate thingy.  Does the cookie kit also come with that? The cookie kit pic looks like a ton of tiny parts but does not show the plate light.  Do I need to buy that or do I reuse it from the factory rig?

No there are no license plate lights.  Look on ebay for bolts with LEDs in them.  You just splice them into  the two wires for the plate light use them to bolt the plate onto the bracket that is a part of the kit.
I know it looks different than the CW kit but that since it is not one giant piece it looks much cleaner in my opinion.  Another option is to cut out a small rectangle out of the red housing for the tail light and clear light will shine on the plate.  I chose to say fudge it and left the plate light out.  The tail light is so bright it would be hard to see the difference anyways.

I've seen both cookies kit and the cw kit and cookies kit looks waaaay better you could also play with the angle and probably get it to sit back a little farther.  Also depends on how much of the frame you want to cut off.

I'm pretty sure going to go the full chop I think and then reuse the factory signals with the smoked lens covers and amber bulbs from clear options or whatever they are called.  That being the case I will get the powder coat option or have my buddy anodize.  He does it for parts he makes in his machine shop so I'm sure he could throw it in for me.

I'm not sure about down there as opposed to hear, but I'm pretty sure I would just get a ticket for "Failure to Display..." or something like that.  Just my luck.  Cool idea though. Smiley

rattle can the kit with black paint to match your frame.
Napa ( or whoever) will likely have a close match on the shelf

I used the TPO tag mount when I chopped my tail.  I don't think it cost but about $80 and for $19 more there are mounting brackets for the signals (although I recommend the integrated tail light.  It really cleans up the rear end).  The TPO uses the rubber screw, grommet things that expand inside the frame which also keeps trash out.  Super easy to install (took me less then an hour and a half to chop and install bracket and light).

Are the two holes and cut outs above the plate for the stock tag light? Who did you pick that up from?

Yes, that is the tag light mounts, I have one on the way.  I bought it from TPO parts.  I think I posted a link to their website, but you can sometimes find them on ebay.  Fair prices, and great service.  Everytime I have purchased something from them, it has come with great step by step instructions.  I'm a fan.
